The Conference

One of the great accomplishments of the 20th century was the creation and implementation of national electric grids, but there are problems on the horizon. Demand is expected to grow radically (19% in the US) while capacity is predicted to grow minimally (6% in the US). The “Smart” or “Intelligent Grid” a relatively new concept, is envisioned as a way to produce and distribute electricity for the rest of the century. 

The Smart Grid relies on two-way communication to do these things and therefore an investment in IT, automation and communications is critical. This conference is an ideal opportunity to gain a complete picture of IT, Automation and Communications technology as applied to the power industry, whether you are a utility, regulator, private power producer (even a micro processor with a few solar panels), supplier, research or academic environment.

Gustav, also known as the father of the ISO standard for energy systems analyses, is Fellow of the Energy Institute Sweden, President International Clean Energy Consortium ICEC, Chairman ISO/TC203/WG3 Energy Systems, Analyses & Statistics and Executive Secretary of ISEO Geneva. Gustav has also presented at international energy and environment conferences on four continents, at United Nations congresses and at European Union and ASEAN events.

Andrew is co-author of two Australian SCADA Standards, two IEEE standards, a member of several Australian working groups. Andrew is Chair of the DNP Users Group Technical Committee and Spokesperson for the IEC TC57 WG03 which is responsible for IEC 60870.
