Description

Substation Automation is a sub unit of the power system automation that is controlled by remote users and receives data from Intelligent Electronics Devices within the substation. The main objective of substations is to generate and transmit power. So the monitoring of substations is required, in order to reduce the outages that take place. Power system automation binds the processing of Intelligent Electronics devices and communications protocols. 
This professional course on IEC 61850 based Substation Automation contains the elaborated concepts on substation automation. IEC 61850 is one of the subcategories of IEC standards that concern with the electrical substation automation. The IEC 61850 explains the ideal data models that are designed to a number of protocols and also the standard protocols for MMS GOOSE, GSSE, sampled values multicast. These protocols are data modeling and communication models that are used to transfer the signals over the automated systems using network connections.
